Our Name:
Mark D. Levy Horticultural Services LLC is certainly not easy to say quickly, and even more difficult to spell. When I started this company 22 years ago, there were obviously several landscape companies in Westchester County before me.  The name of my new venture was hopefully forever, and I thought it should represent what I wanted to provide my customers for the long term.  It was a simple decision to place my full given name in the title, because I wanted to establish accountability, and insure that it would always be simple to know whom to call at the top. In 1986, the word “Horticulture” did not appear in any business names of any landscape contractor that I could find, nor would you find it on any truck as a part of their advertisements. To me, “Horticulture Services” was a concept that I envisioned. I wanted to become a full-spectrum company, with sophistication. What were to set me apart from so many were my education in Horticulture, my diverse background and my experience working in the corporate world. Today, just look around, it is used so freely that you may even seen it misspelled on a truck, I have recently. If you advertise it, you must provide it, and we always have, and before ANYONE ELSE.

Our Slogan:
“BEGIN YOUR ROOTS”was a catchy slogan my wife came up with a few years before we were officially in business. She was trying to come up with something that would encourage new clients to give us a chance, and to grow with us. Although a great Horticultural metaphor, it was also meant to represent the values our parents had given us, and that we would always remember where we both came from, and let our personal integrity be the foundation of our business.

Our Beginning:
MARK D. LEVY HORTICULTURAL SERVICES LLC began as a small partnership in 1986 with a pickup truck, a family to feed and a dream. ( Link to my story) We grew quickly, as we created a niche for providing professional services to the homeowners and Landscape Architectural firms in Westchester and Fairfield counties. For 22 years, we have consistently provided a higher quality of plant material accompanied by a comprehensive array of Horticultural services, at reasonable prices.

Our Philosophies:
Along the way, we have worked hard to remain focused on a few key elements that have been an important part of who we are, and what perception prospective clients will have of us.

• “Flexibility” We have always been sensitive to the investment that our customers are making, so our contracts are always clear and detailed. This minimizes “extras”, and provides our clients with realistic potential costs. We also are not “change order” crazy and understand that there will always be site adjustments, so we absorb as much of these costs as we can. This is especially valuable in working with a Landscape Architect, or an independent designer, so their designs are not compromised.
  
  
• “Fairness” It is extremely important to me, and that at the end of every day, we have done all we could to give the customer the “benefit of the doubt”. We also have strong guarantee and warranty policies that favor the development of quality relationships. We will not always be the least expensive, but it is our continual objective to be the best “Value” in the long-term.
  
  
• “Forever” We treat every customer as if we will have a working relationship for many years to come. It has always been my belief that as if we can remain flexible, and always be fair, that relationships can last forever.
